To visit Havasu Falls, you will need a permit. Permits must be purchased in advance and should be carried at all times. To gain entry to the area, visitors will need to show their permit at a checkpoint. Visitors can either hike to the waterfall, or take a horse- or mule ride to reach it once they are inside the park.

Hermit Road

A great thing to do in Grand Canyon National Park Arizona is take a drive down Hermit Road, a seven-mile-long scenic route through the canyon. You can reach this scenic route from either the Grand Canyon Village, or by taking the red or blue shuttle lines. You can also ride a bicycle from the Grand Canyon Village to reach Hermit Road, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the park.

Unlike other parts of the park, Hermit Road has less traffic. It is the ideal place for kids to enjoy a scenic drive through the Grand Canyon. There are three viewpoints along the road. The first viewpoint is Desert View, and it’s a wonderful introduction to the Grand Canyon. Other viewpoints include Mohave Point and Hopi Point.

Desert View Drive

You can’t ride the shuttle bus along this road, so you will need to drive your own car. The drive can be completed in about an hour, but it is recommended that you allow at least a half day. There are several places where you can find restrooms along the route. These include the Desert View parking lot, the Tusayan Ruins and Museum and Grandview Point. You can also use the vault toilets at Buggelyn picnic area.

This is a great place to go with kids because it is located close to the visitors center. It is also the easiest viewpoint to visit with children because it has a parking lot near it. Another viewpoint is the Watchtower, which is the first view you see when you enter the park from the East Entrance. While this viewpoint has not been open to the public since late 2020, it offers a great view of the canyon and its surrounding area.

Grand Canyon Railway

If you’re looking for something to do with your kids in Grand Canyon National Park, try taking a trip on the Grand Canyon Railway. This railroad transports passengers between Williams, Arizona, and the South Rim of the park. The scenic trains are a great option for family outings.

The Grand Canyon Railway has been running between Williams and Grand Canyon Village since 1901. It runs through many landscapes and hosts various themed events. The journey takes about two hours and offers plenty of opportunities to view the park and wildlife.
