Fremont Troll

The Fremont Troll sculpture is a Seattle landmark. It’s also a great place to climb and enjoy the sights of Seattle. The Fremont Arts Council held a contest to create it. They wanted to improve the area below the bridge which had become a drug den or dumping ground. The troll, which is 18 feet tall, is free to view and climb, and you can also enjoy a cold beer at the nearby Fremont brewery.

The troll statue is also located near the Aurora Bridge. This sculpture, measuring 18 feet, resembles a Norwegian folklore hero and stands next to a Volkswagen Beetle. The statue is made of concrete, steel rebar, and wire, and weighs over 13,000 pounds. It once featured a bust of Elvis Presley, but that was sadly stolen by vandals.
