There are plenty of places to keep your kids entertained, whether you’re visiting Fort Lauderdale as a family or planning a family vacation to South Florida. Here are a few of our recommendations. Check out Flamingo Gardens, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, Billie Swamp Safari, and Young At Art Museum.

Flamingo Gardens

Flamingo Gardens, a tropical garden covering 60 acres, features an aviary, zoo and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located north-of Miami and is free to the public. It is perfect for families looking to spend a day exploring the Everglades.

The park is open to all from 8 a.m. until dusk. Admission is $6 for cars with up to eight occupants and $4 for single-occupant vehicles. The park is open to all who cycle or walk. You can also take a themed ranger walk for free.

Billie Swamp Safari

With more than two hundred acres of wildlife, Billie Swamp Safari is the perfect family vacation. You can see alligators and snakes on a swamp buggy tour. You can also learn more about Florida’s animal life at the nature center.

The Swamp Buggy ecotour is a popular attraction at Billie Swamp Safari in Fort Lauderdale. Kids can enjoy the mud and wetlands from an open-air vehicle. Other fun activities include airboat rides in the Everglades and viewing animal exhibits and live critter shows. The swamp is home to thousands of plant and animal species.

Young At Art Museum

If your family is looking for something fun to do with the kids, the Young At Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale might be the perfect place. This museum features traveling exhibits throughout the year, and classes are offered year-round. Fort Lauderdale is home to the Las Olas gondola tours, which take children on a 75-minute tour through the city’s canals. Guests may also bring snacks to board.
